Interesting as I don’t own any of those pieces. My favourites are knee-length cotton shirts with functional buttons, denim pants and denim jilbabs and embroidered shirts and skirts and the knee-length sweaters and white cotton dresses. I don’t like your hijabs though, they are too short and the long ones are wrap arounds which I don’t like. I prefer waist length khimars that are sewn up and don’t need pins. I wish the jilbabs were more interesting in terms of colours and cut and embroidery. Not fancy but just more cheerful.

March 14th, 2010 at 4:09 amSalam. The clothes are very modest and nice, but I do agree with the sister about the jilbabs. I was recently on layla-h.com they have designer jilbabs with innovative cuts and designs. I would like to say keep up the good work, shukr.

March 15th, 2010 at 11:52 amI love the new urban look. I have recieved numerous compliments from Co-workers stating that my long shirts look so cool. I even have a non muslim friend who just loves modest clothes that she wants to purchase some her self. The dresses are really awesome the miltary inspired and cowl neck dress are so hip. There was a dress that had an empire waist with pleats I which it would love for it to come back. Also you had a soft cotton cowl neck shirt cotton jersey material that was really cool . I love your modal shirts (super soft for the summer) . Thanks Shukr!!

March 16th, 2010 at 1:31 amSalaam Sister!
Thanks so much for the feedback! We are really excited about going in a new direction with our urban casual designs, and we’re so glad you like them! Thanks for the requests as well–I’ve passed them on to our production manager, who will definitely take them into consideration.
Thanks again!

March 17th, 2010 at 7:46 amI would like to see the lengha pants come back in cotton. I bought the denim one a few years back and bought the cotton one for my sister also. The only thing is I am dreading now that I didn’t buy one for me. Also I would like to see more tops with the empire waist style for the summer. Thanks. Keep up the good work!! Insha’Allah..

March 19th, 2010 at 11:27 amI have the light cotton devotion tunic and that was always one of my favorites from Shukr, I am always hoping to see it brought back, but it hasn’t been yet. I would love to see that one again.

March 22nd, 2010 at 8:36 amOne more thing..I would also like for you to bring back the underpants that you had years ago..I feel it would be appropriate to wear it under the rayon suits pants. Thanks again

March 24th, 2010 at 8:54 amI love Shukr for all my tops, the designs are always so fresh & unique.. I am a UK customer and just wanted to say could we please have a more varied range of colours? Most of the tops are in pastel colours, whereas I often look for deeper colours too like emerald greens and deep purples. Also the knee-length tops are my all-time favourites
You are doing an amazing job.. Keep it up!

March 26th, 2010 at 1:27 pmi don’t know if it’s just me, but i’ve noticed there’s no longer a variety in the length of women’s tops lately. it is really disappointing since that’s all i used to order from here (shorter tops). i wear loose fitting pants and and i don’t think it’s immodest to wear tops that stop upper-mid thigh. all the shirts i am looking at now go all the way down to the knees (or close enough). im 5’7 so it’s not like i’m short. i would just love some more choices in length. thanks for giving us a chance to post our suggestions!

March 26th, 2010 at 1:29 pmplease bring back shorter shirts. loose pants don’t always need to have shirts that come all the way down to the knees. =/

March 28th, 2010 at 11:47 pmSalaam Everyone!
I’ve passed all your feedback on to our production manager (from expanding colors to the shirt length, to the request for the under-pants).
Thanks so much for the time you all took to comment!

April 13th, 2010 at 2:53 amI love your clothes, and am hoping for the braided belt skirt again in ordinary denim – I have one, but I’ve gained weight since buying one and I want a new one that fits better on the waist
You have it in tencel denim…please bring it back in ordinary denim!
I agree on the shirt lengths, too, it’d be nice to have some shorter ones again. I’m short (5’1\), and the long shirts over pants makes me look short and fat sometimes, not the look I’d like!

April 14th, 2010 at 5:04 amI really like the below-the-knee length dusters you have been offering. As a 30-something mom of 4 I got fed up with busting buttons, ripping out hems and generally tripping over myself while trying to handle kids, playing outside, etc., in a full-length jilbab so my compromise which is still sound according to my understanding, is to wear a long black skirt with a duster over it. However, the rayon dusters you have now are clearly too light and clingy. I wear mainly a corduroy duster from a previous season (even though there were sizing issues back then, I ended up with a large with too-long sleeves) and the Pleiku Tunic. I will note, however, that in 3 separate items from 3 separate seasons I have been plagued with buttons coming off.
I would really like to see some medium-weight fabrics (i.e., not the clingy loose rayon stuff) in tunics and jilbabs in light colors. I usually wear black, navy blue or burgundy jilbabs/dusters but in the summer I prefer to wear khaki and that is very hard to find. I LOVE the qaylah jilbab but I am bummed that it doesn’t come in any light colors. The colors you have are gorgeous but more suited for winter.
Also, am I the only one who doesn’t wear wrap hijabs? I can’t stand how they look on me. My stock of solid colored squares from Syria is depleting and very few places sell squares anymore.
Finally, the urban look is nice for those who can wear it, but for those of us who are older and can’t really pull off that look, I hope you will keep offering more professional and elegant adult looks.

April 15th, 2010 at 11:12 amI agree with some of the above comments.
There definitely needs to be a wider array of colors. Sometimes, I can no longer buy a style that I like since I already have other Shukr styles all in the same colors! That is a shame.
I see that there is a request for shorter shirts. How about a request for longer? I, and several of my friends, are very interested in mid-calf length tunics. I see maybe only one or two tunics at that length.
Jak!

April 15th, 2010 at 11:14 amAnother comment I would like to make is that it is inconvenient to be tied to a dress size because of height. Sometimes, dresses in ‘Medium’ are too large for me, but I can not downsize since ‘Small’ would be too short. (I am 5’4”, and I belive samll is designed for 5’2”.

April 18th, 2010 at 4:20 am@ J, duly noted! Don’t worry, we won’t desert our customers like you. We are looking for sources for nice hijabs in Syria, so stay tuned. As soon as we can find some we are happy with, be assured that we will stock them.
For the rest of your very informative comments, I passed those directly on to production.
@Assya–Good comments as well. We are planning to expand our sizing line, but it depends highly upon how business goes. As we grow, we will continue to expand, inshallah.

June 3rd, 2010 at 5:03 pmDear SHUKR,
thank you so much for the beautiful clothes you are creating!
My favorite fabrics are corduroy and cotton (C1), as well as the cotton voile (C34) – as long as the last one comes in darker colours, because it’s great for hot weather, but not that great, if you must wear something underneath, because it’s see-through
). Colours? If the fabrics are not see-through, everything not too glaring is fine.
As to the items, which i’d love to see on stock again, there are quite a lot J.I’ll begin with the trousers: corduroy Cosmopolitan Pants, corduroy or cotton Double Belted Flared Pants, Zarafshan Pants and Antonia Pants. I’ve got just one comment to the length. I’m not tall myself – 1.60 m, and your size S fits me very well, but even i have experienced, that your trousers are 5 to 7 cm shorter than i would like them to be (e.g. Denim Meymuna Pants). Being quite short, I am used to shortening my trousers from conventional stores, but what to do if they are too short? For the many SHUKR customers, who are taller than me, it’s most probably even a bigger problem. Please reflect upon it!
Tops i’d like you to bring back: Formentera Tunic, Cotton Beaded Box Pleat Tunic, Uber Dress Top, Samarkand Tunic, Cotton Asymmetrical Tent Tunic, Manga Tunic. Cotton Inverted Pleat Tunic. Could You also offer the Linen Ruffle Hooded Top in other fabrics/colours?
As to the skirts, my favorites are simple corduroy skirts like Corduroy Comfort Fit Trumpet Skirt, Nina Corduroy Skirt or something like A-Line Skirt with Buttoned Waist, which you once had in cotton. A gorgeous skirt, which you just HAVE TO bring back is the Linen Blend Celestial Skirt!
Beautiful dresses were the Mussaret Dress, Rosette Detailed Dress and i also love the Formentera Shirt dress in whatsoever fabric. But here again – the dresses tend to be too short! The ideal dress for a woman of my height should be about 1.35 m long, for her feet not to be exposed too much. For us – muslimahs – it’s important!
Nice and modest trousers for men were: Cotton Pocketed Pants, Mountain Pass Pants and New Delhi Pants. I would love to be able to buy some more pairs of these in masculine colours (i.e. not red, yellow, purple etc.
) for my husband.
Sorry for the tooooo long comment!
Hoping that you will consider some of my suggestions and wishing SHUKR all the best for the future,
your faithful customer Suleima

June 15th, 2010 at 2:07 amSalaam again Suleima,
As a post script, we wanted to let you know that we have lengthened all of our trousers, and we have also lengthened our size small dresses and jilbabs slightly. Also, the Linen Ruffle Hooded Top will be available in new colors for Ramadan inshaAllah.
Thanks again for writing!!
